The picture shows a CleanUpBag from LOWA GmbH that I once won in a promo from LOWA including the litter that I found (and collected) on a mountain hike. The reactions on social media were either “thank you” or anger at the people who leave the litter on the trails.
And I can understand those who feel anger! I used to feel the same way!
BUT at some point, I realized: rage doesn’t change people. It doesn’t remove the litter. It ruins my mountain experience. And when I go back there and see the garbage again … it all happens again?!
By feeling rage and anger I have achieved nothing AND ruined my mountain experience, repeatedly! I’ve then run into a loose-loose situation!
OR
I accept the situation as it is, pack up the litter, continue to enjoy my mountain experience and have made the world a little bit better. A win-win!
And you can now also try to apply this attitude to everyday (working) life …
What really impressed / surprised me: I posted this in some social media channels and explained why I don’t feel anger any more, why I try to do my part of changing for the better. – And some people adapted the attitude and even posted their collected litter a couple of days later!
This convinced me also that it can indeed help to just do something good and talk about it!
