Recently I noticed that one of my RaspberryPIs was running a rather old version of Raspian. I thought it might be a good idea to upgrade and followed the instructions from Upgrade Raspberry Pi OS to the Latest Version (2024) – RaspberryTips.
Actually, most of it went pretty smooth! But I didn’t read the initial warning:
Keep in mind that the Raspberry Pi Foundation recommends installing the system from scratch, instead of upgrading it as explained in this tutorial.
Later I noticed that in one of the updates, the network adapters were renamed and a change to systemd was done. I simply didn’t inform myself properly about the upgrades.
In the end, I wasted a Saturday trying to fix network issues and now ended up in doing what the Raspberry Pi Foundation recommends: installing a new system from scratch.
Well, lesson learned.
